Content Courses in Hebrew are based on the rationale that people learn a second language more fully when they they engage with the cultural sphere where the language lives and is used in every aspect of life, from the mundane to the high and artistic. In Content Courses, the thematic content - topics that students find interesting and relevant - provides the materials (mostly authentic language texts and visual materials) around which listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities are created. Content Courses are self-contained and do not need to be taken in a sequence. (A content course starts in the beginning of the quarter and ends at the end of that quarter.)

Since 1929, The Jewish Agency for Israel has been rescuing Jews in danger from around the world and bringing them to Israel, and we continue to do that critical work every day, from conflict-torn Ukraine and terror-stricken Jewish communities in Europe, to South American communities strained by catastrophic economic or political upheaval, and Middle Eastern enclaves where we must work in secret.

Some assistive technologies allow users to navigate from list to list or item to item. If the lists are not correctly formatted with list tags, these users will have difficulty understanding the list content.

With platforms like Memrise or Anki, you can create your own flashcard decks, and list only the items you want to learn. Pick words that appeared in your textbooks, those you noted down in conversation classes, or learned from texts.

During a conversation we need to quickly react to unexpected input. We are required to retrieve relevant bits of language information from sections like grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening.

I was slowly on a path to becoming observant. I picked up resources online from study materials for kids to advanced college level hebrew. In the end, what determines the success of being able to know the language, is really a combination of passion, curiosity, personal attachment of and to the language. I have been studying Hebrew for the past 2 years on my own, I can read fluently and get the gist of whats written, but to be a pure native fluency is taking alot of time. I think its really important to be able to use hebrew in everything - I setup my default languages in my phone to hebrew, same for facebook, youtube, email accounts etc. I started to watch alot of Hebrew shows as well - all I can say is that its working and has a positive impact in terms of my fluency.

Starting anything from scratch can be challenging, especially if you learn how to write in a language completely different from your own. It is really like navigating through a territory that is completely unknown to you.

However, this need not be a big hurdle or a problem! At HebrewPod101, we introduce you to Hebrew writing in simple, easy-to-follow steps, and you can ask for advice or help anywhere along the way. It is important to master the Hebrew alphabet completely from the start.

Hebrew has its own writing system using the Hebrew alphabet. It is written from right to left and contains no vowels. We use it for other Jewish languages as well, such as Yiddish, Ladino, and Judeo-Arabic. In Hebrew, the alphabet is called the alephbet after the first two letters.

With a language, like with anything you have to learn from scratch, having a few mnemonic devices handy are key to learning it fast. A mnemonic device is basically any method or technique that helps you to retain or commit something to memory more easily.

Try to write words from your own language in Hebrew, and ask your friendly HebrewPod101 teachers for feedback! Or post them on the forum and see if anyone can read them. You will be so pleased with yourself when you start writing words that are readable and recognizable by native speakers.
